Hon. Asenso Boakye(Left), Mr. Joseph Ayambilla(Right)
Mr. Joseph Ayambilla, the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai constituency secretary, popularly known as Strongman Watoo, has alleged that Mr. Asenso Boakye, the Minister for Roads and Highways, is not fit for the position he holds. This was contained in a statement he issued today, the 16th day of July, 2024, at Bibiani. Read the full statement below.
Hon. Asenso Boakye Is Not Fit as Minister for Road and Highways
Hon. Asenso Boakye (MP) and Minister for Roads and Highways is not fit for his portfolio, taking Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai (BAB) as a case study. The Ministry of Roads and Highways is one of the most resourced ministries in the country. It is disgraceful that Hon. Asenso Boakye has depleted the ministry’s funds to the extent that all roads in BAB cannot be funded by the ministry. As a result, the ministry had to rely on an individual, the MP for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Hon. Alfred Obeng Boateng, to use his personal funds to construct the roads because the government (ministry) is broke.
This is shameful, and the sector minister and the government do not deserve to stay in office even for a day to continue disgracing the country. How can this government, which has received more funds than any other in Ghana’s history, be so broke that it seeks financial assistance from an individual like Alfred Obeng Boateng? He has been telling the constituents at every opportunity that roads in BAB cannot be constructed otherwise, which is also breeding a conflict of interest because he is awarding all the contracts to himself through his company, Obeng Brothers Construction Ltd. No wonder the Hon. Minister visited BAB roads in the evening when it was dark, but visited all other constituencies in the daytime.
We know this government has failed, but for the entire government to be so broke that it seeks financial assistance from an MP before roads can be constructed is a shame to the Economic Management Team led by Dr. Bawumia and the Roads Ministry headed by Minister Asenso Boakye. Hon. Minister, sit up, for this disgrace must not follow you out of office in 2025 after the 2024 elections when the NDC takes over.
I am Joseph Ayambilla (Strongman Watoo).
