As we approach the election, it is crucial to carefully evaluate the candidates vying for your vote. Festus Bumagama, the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, is presenting himself as a development agent by undertaking few projects here and there. However, we must be cautious and not be deceived by sudden displays of action and commitment.
Let me share a story with you:
In a village, there was a chieftaincy contest, and the lion was one of the candidates. As the contest progressed, the lion grew more popular, raising concerns among the kingmakers. To address this, the kingmakers issued a directive that the new king would be chosen based on humility and not popularity. Within a week, the lion became the most humble creature in the village, even paying homage to goats and sheep in the market. Despite the lion’s sudden humility, the kingmakers realized that selecting a lion would be disastrous in the future. So, they issued a second directive, stating that the new king should be someone who had demonstrated consistent humility throughout their life, not someone who had become newly humble. Faced with this criterion, the lion withdrew from the contest, knowing he was no longer qualified.
This story teaches us an important lesson: we should judge people by the entirety of their life’s actions, not just their recent behavior. Buma has not shown any commitment in the development of the constituency over the years. What has changed? He has suddenly packaged himself as a development agent to deceive people for votes. Just like the lion who suddenly became humble to become king, so is the case of Buma, who has turned himself into a development agent to gain votes. If the kingmakers had been swayed by the lion’s sudden humility, they would have regretted it later. The same applies to Buma—let us not be swayed by chameleon momentary acts of development, it is a scam.
It has emerged that some of the projects he and his surrogates claim ownership of are not his projects. A prime example is the Boako market. Earlier, it was all over the news that Buma was building a market for the people of Boako, only for us to find out that he had no hand in the construction of the market. What a BIG SHAME.
However, if it is true that Buma is genuinely responsible for all the projects in the Wiawso constituency, as we were made to believe, then what is happening to our IGF, DACF, Royalties, and even the MP’s Common Fund? These funds were meant to support and undertake developmental projects in the constituency, so where are those monies? Are NPP sympathizers and supporters alluding to the fact that the NPP party failed to develop the constituency? Otherwise, our MP, MCE, and the NPP party are ineffective and incompetent to the extent that an individual has to take up the development of the constituency.
Let us not be fooled. Buma is not genuine; these projects are fake and wrongly assigned to him just to scam the electorate for vote. All the projects are IGF, DACF, Royalties, and MP’s Common Fund sponsored projects mischievously being credited to Buma
